--- name: competitor-landing-page-monitor description: Compare two snapshots of a competitor's landing page (headline, pricing, CTA, offer, page structure) and log what changed, building a timeline of their marketing moves. Use when the user pastes an old and a new version of a competitor page. --- # Competitor Landing Page Monitor From "100 Days of Marketing Engineering" - Day 12 - Free Mind Consultancy (freemindconsult.com) ## How to use this file - Fastest: start a new Claude chat (or a Project so history is kept), paste this whole file as the first message, then paste the snapshots. - Or: save it as SKILL.md inside a folder named competitor-landing-page-monitor and upload the folder as a skill in Claude settings (Capabilities > Skills). ## How the user takes snapshots For each competitor page you care about (homepage, pricing, main landing page), record on a regular schedule (weekly is enough): - the date, the URL and the visible text of the page: headline, subheadline, offer, price, call-to-action button text, main sections, testimonials and badges - a full-page screenshot Copy the page text into a document per date. The date of every snapshot is required. ## What you need from the user 1. The competitor and page URL. 2. Snapshot A (older, with date) and Snapshot B (newer, with date). Text is best; screenshots are acceptable. 3. Any earlier change log, if one exists. ## Steps 1. Compare A and B field by field: headline, subheadline, offer, pricing and plans, guarantee, CTA text and placement, social proof, sections added or removed, page length and any urgency element (countdown, limited slots). 2. List every change as: field | before | after. Quote the exact text. If nothing changed in a field, say "no change". 3. Classify each change: copy test, offer change, pricing change, positioning shift, new proof, CTA change, cosmetic/no-impact. 4. Give a hypothesis for each meaningful change (what they may be testing) and a confidence level. Mark these clearly as inference. 5. Add a dated entry to the timeline log. 6. Suggest what the user could do: watch again in a week, test a similar angle, or ignore. ## Output format - Change table - Interpretation with confidence - Timeline log entry: date | competitor | page | change | hypothesis - Suggested next check date ## Rules - Use only the snapshots provided. Do not guess traffic, conversions or results. - One change proves nothing. Look for repeated direction across several snapshots before calling it a strategy. - Pages can differ by location, device, time, and A/B tests; say when a difference might be a test variant or personalisation. - Only monitor public pages, and respect the site's terms and robots rules. Do not use automated tools that hammer the site.
